Why I don’t like chair lifts01.06.09

Heather makes fun of me for not liking to get on chairlifts.  Laugh all you want, but you won’t laugh when this happens to you.

A Real Update!01.05.09

So it’s been quite some time since Heather or I have actually given anything good to read here.  Well, I figured I’d change that around a bit.

Things have been pretty hectic over the last couple months.  I’ve begun snowboarding and almost killed myself once.  We’ve been bouncing around a lot for the holidays over the last month and we are just now settling down and getting back into that “regular” groove.

For New Year’s we went to a friends house and hung out.  He wanted me to bring my Wii, so I did.  I did not realize until we tried to hook it up halfway through the night that I was missing the video cord.  I called my mom and she shipped it off to me.  It came in the mail on Saturday so we at least had some Wii time this weekend.

We drove down to watch Tim’s kids test in Elysian for Tae Kwon Do.  Heather and I were going to go snowboarding in Mankato, but when the test was done it had started to ice/rain.  We debated a bit and I put my foot down said we were starting home instead.  So we drove from Mankato to Golden Valley in the middle of an ice storm.  It was glorious.  Normally it would be an hour drive and it took us over two and a half hours.  I had to stop twice to scrape the ice off my windshield.  Every time there was another good quarter inch of ice built up.  It was ridiculous.  We made it home safe and I crashed on the couch.  Driving had wore me out.  After a bit we got bored, because it was still early so we went and rented a movie, Mamma Mia…Heather’s pick for those wondering.

Today was a cleaning day, we got most everything squared away from the holidays.  This week we’ll continue to work on our Extravaganza for the 24th and Heather is also starting to get excited about my company’s holiday party, which is on the 17th.

Hopefully, we keep updating more regularly again now that the site is a bit more servicable.

Happy New Year, all!

Just a quick update for those that subscribe.  I’ve been working hard to finish the website.  There are obviously some glitches and problems still.  They’ll be gone shortly.

Happy Halloween11.03.08

Had a pretty good weekend this time around.  Tim came over Friday and we all went to Dave and Busters which is basically like Chuck E. Cheese for adults.  They were having a half-price day for Halloween so all the games cost half what they usually do.  We had a lot of fun and the three of us played forever without having to spend too much.  I even won a 1000 tickets at the giant wheel spinning game.  Although Tim did get the fastest gun draw time, and Heather did smoke us in racing once.

Saturday we were planning on going to Valleyfair for the last day of the year, but they didn’t open until 7pm so we had to improvise.  Played a lot of Guitar Hero and hung out.  Then we started hitting up stores and scoring the good after Halloween candy deals.  We finally made it to Valleyfair and it was a lot of fun.  I almost got us kicked out by sneaking my camera onto the Extreme Swing and trying to take a picture in the middle of the ride.  Oops…

Anyways, it was a lot of fun and Sunday Tim and I went to the Vikings game because Heather wasn’t in the mood for a football game.  Took it easy after that.

Let’s talk about some football10.31.08

I’m listening to the Ada-Borup football team play their section championship game at the Alerus dome in Grand Forks.  I want to take a moment and give some recognition.  My brother Aaron just scored the first touch down of the game.

Every time I’m back in Ada and football comes up people talk about Aaron starting to follow in my footsteps.  I just wanted to say that Aaron’s not following in my footsteps.  He’s not following in my footsteps, he’s only in 10th grade, starts both sides and already better than I ever was.

I liked to play football, had some fun and that was it.  I was lucky enough to be part of a really good team, go to state and see some cool stuff.  Thought about playing in college, was on the team at MSUM, but quit before practice started my freshman year.  I had other stuff I wanted to do and football would get in the way.

However it ends, good job on this year, Aaron.  Keep working, you’ve got years to get even better.

But keep this in mind, one-on-one, I could still take you any day.

Pumpkin Time10.30.08

So, as you can tell by the new pictures it was pumpkin carving time in Golden Valley.  Not too much has happened since the last update.  Heather and I have been laying low and taking it easy.

The only really new exciting thing is that we’ve got the new Guitar Hero game with drums and singing and everything, it’s pretty fun.  Although, now I’ve almost got Heather to agree that we need a bigger TV.

Other than that, getting ready for the Halloween weekend.  Should be a lot of fun.  Tim may come over and we’ll probably head to Valleyfair on Saturday for the last time of the year.

Good News10.08.08

So not a whole lot to report these days.  This weekend was busy.  We got to Ada Friday night in time to watch Aaron and the rest of the Cougars stomp on Ulen-Hitterdahl.  Saturday morning we were up and at the tae kwon do tournament in Fargo.  Heather did some competing and ended up picking up a couple medals.  We jetted out of there before two, spiffied up, and made it to the cities in time for a wedding dinner for a co-worker of mine.  It was a good night and a lot of fun watching the new couple cut it up on the dance floor.

In other news, Heather has accepted a job offer so now I will have the glee of waking her up in the early morning EVERY DAY.  MUAHAHA.  I’ll let her fill in more details if she ever feels like blogging again.  I keep giving her crap about it so you never know.

Also, you may have noticed that the blog is looking……well, plain.  I’m working on redesigning the site so it’ll slowly and surely start coming together over time.  Check out the home page at http://nicknheather.com/blog/

Breaking Boards, Not Bones09.22.08

Well, we’re both still alive and relatively unhurt.  Heather popped a blood vessel in her right ring finger from a board break and I’ve got a nice heel bruise from one too.  Other than that though we were a bit sore and tired and that was about it.

The test went really well and we both passed, along with the other two testing.  It was a lot of fun and although Heather was really nervous beforehand she kicked some butt during it.  We’ll get some video up of it eventually, until then, here is some pictures.

Good Job, Aaron09.16.08

Just a note I’m passing along from my mom’s bragging.  Aaron was the star of the game last week and the leading rusher.  He’s been working pretty hard at football and it’s already starting to pay off for him as a sophmore.

Who knows, if you keep up at it Aaron, you may be able to take on your big brother one day.

:)

Feliz Cumpleanos, una dia tarde09.15.08

So, as promised, here is the rest of the update for Heather declares as her Birthday Weekend.  Friday night we took a night off from training and went to Dave and Busters in Maple Grove.  It’s basically a Chuckie Cheese for adults.  We had some food and played a bunch of arcade games for a little while before cashing in and heading out.  I’ll leave it to Heather to fill in the details on exactly what transpired.  She likes to tell that story.

Saturday morning we got up and headed up to the great city of Fargo.  We met Heather’s parents in the afternoon and sat around for a bit.  Then we got some early supper at Texas Roadhouse before going to the casino.  The one-armed bandit hit up everybody, except me, I managed to walk out $50 ahead.

Sunday we went to Mexican Village to embarrass Heather and so she could get some fried ice cream and I could eat it.  Then we took a short nap and packed up.  We had to meet Tim to pick up a couple things and took him out for a final birthday supper.  I think Heather had a pretty good time and as much as she denies it, she likes all the embarrassing attention she gets on her special day.

Love you, Heather. Happy Birthday, a day late.
